Acknowledgements

The development of this kete or tool box was funded by the Foundation for Research Science and Technology. Its development also depended on the invaluable contribution of many communities, organisations, groups and individuals, as they participated in interviews, hui and other meetings, workshops, case studies and feedback forums. Unfortunately, they are too many to name individually. Members of the programme's national reference group have also provided invaluable enthusiasm, commitment to the end product, ideas, and constructive criticism throughout the kete development. They have included Bev Abbott, previously Tourism New Zealand (currently Chair, Wellington Conservation Board); Malcolm Anderson, previously Tourism Industry Association of New Zealand (now Director, Interpretation New Zealand); John Barrett, Director, Kapiti Island Alive, Chair, NZ Maori Tourism Council and Wellington Regional Tourism Organisation, and member of NZ Tourism Board; Bruce Bassett, Ministry of Tourism and NZ Tourism Research Council; Dennis Bush-King, Tasman District Council; Raewyn Hutchings, Department of Conservation; Bryan Hutchins, previous CEO Fiordland Travel/Real Journeys; Bronek Kazmierow, Department of Conservation; Andy Thompson, previously Department of Conservation (currently Tourism Resource Consultants); and Bruce Watson, West Coast Marine Protection Forum.

We would like to sincerely thank all these contributors.
